What a night!
We surpassed our fundraising target at this year’s Stand Up in September event, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the night such a success, from our Gold Event Sponsor, domo Insurance, to our incredible event partners, speakers, performers and auction supporters, and of course, everyone who joined us on the night and generously supported You Matter.
Together, you’ve helped raise funds to transform 12 empty houses into Havens of Hope, welcoming homes where women and children recovering from family violence can settle, feel cared for and begin to look ahead with hope.
The evening was hosted by Josh Reid-Jones from the Just Be Nice Project, with a moving Acknowledgement of Country by Ganga Giri, and music from singer-songwriter Mat Rigby and the legendary Mike Brady. Nicholas Brooks from Marshall White Real Estate brought plenty of excitement to the room as he put the hammer down on a selection of AFL guernseys, experiences and other prizes. Tarang Chawla facilitated an important panel discussion with Ben McDonald-Watson, Boyd Unwin, Phil Cleary and Reuben Williams exploring how men can use their influence and leadership to drive positive change in their communities. We also recognised our Stand Up in September Top 8, eight men from a range of industries who have each made a pledge to become part of the solution to family violence: Raymond Yao, David O’Connell, Luke Ball, Bigoa Nyuon, Hugo Barry, Jobe Watson, Ben Bongiorno and Phil Cleary.
