Renee Heath MP visit to You Matter

You Matter was pleased to welcome Renee Heath MP to visit our organisation and learn more about the work we do supporting women and children impacted by family violence.

During the visit, Renee met with our CEO, Deborah de Rossi, along with staff and volunteers, to hear about the growing demand for safe, furnished homes for women leaving violent situations.

The conversation highlighted the critical role safe housing plays in helping women rebuild their lives after violence.  For many women, leaving a dangerous situation often means leaving everything behind – including a safe place to call home. Providing a fully furnished, welcoming home can make an immediate and life-changing difference.

Deborah de Rossi said visits like this help raise awareness of the challenges faced by women escaping violence.

“When women leave a violent situation, they are often starting again with nothing. A safe, furnished home gives them the stability and dignity they need to begin rebuilding their lives,” Deborah said.

“We’re grateful when political leaders take the time to learn about the realities facing these women and the role organisations like You Matter play in supporting recovery and independence.”

As rates of family violence and housing insecurity continue to rise across Victoria, organisations like You Matter are seeing increasing demand for support. Collaboration between community organisations, government and the broader community is essential to ensure women and children can access safe housing and the support they need to rebuild their lives.

We thank Renee for taking the time to visit, listen and learn more about the work being done to create safe homes and new beginnings.
